Our story

What started off as a part-time summer job turned into owning and operating Maria’s Gelato..

We are Susanna and Ally, a mother-daughter duo behind Maria’s Gelato & Café. What started off as a part-time job for Ally lead to a full-time employment back in 2010, when Susanna took over the business.

Susanna has nearly 40 years of experience in the hospitality and food industry, prior to operating Maria’s Gelato. With Ally’s background in fine arts and studies in pastry arts, together they were able to grow Maria’s Gelato into what it is today.

Today, we are dedicated on inspiring the next generation of food enthusiasts with sustainability and transparency on ethically sourced ingredients and creative gelato flavours. 
We love that we can create a space where everyone can enjoy something, whether that be sweet or savoury!

We believe in sustainable lifestyle and have made it our goal to reduce our carbon footprint. From the way we produce our flavours to how it is packaged and provided to our guests, we always think of ways to advocate sustainable industry. All of our packaging is now 100% bio-degradable or compostable, something that we have been working towards to achieving since 2017. 

Nearly all products at Maria’s Gelato is made in house such as pastries, gelato, sorbet, and sandwiches, and while we are not a certified dairy free, gluten free, nut free or vegan facility, we are dedicated to accommodating all dietary restrictions in any way that we can. 

We are so grateful for the last 12 years growing Maria’s Gelato and making an impact on the community through sustainability.
